Dr. Jane Mackay has spent a lifetime in pursuit of her passion for great literature. A graduate of three universities, she is the founder of 'Literature Live'.

In The Template of Great Literature series, Jane Mackay sheds new light on the lives and intentions of the great writers of the world. Her interest as a Quaker is in their spiritual journeys and the contribution their insights can give to our lives today. Her talks and live recordings are highly popular with academics, book clubs and the general public alike.

With an obvious love for her subject, penetrating insight, wit, warmth and humanity, Jane Mackay produces an opportunity to get inside the mystery of great lives and great writing that is not to be missed.

Jane says "each lecture is anchored to one book, e.g. Cervantes` Don Quixote, and I try to show how it comes out of the life. I'm not so much interested in the 'isms' as your usual academic. I want to know what makes a great writer..... the process through which they have to go to reach what they achieve. The CD project began as a response to people who were going to miss a lecture and asked for it to be recorded".
